Horizon Bistronomy At Alexandra Road, Labrador Park, Singapore - Al Fresco Seating Area

Horizon Bistronomy At Alexandra Road – Labrador Park, Singapore (Closed)

Horizon Bistronomy first outlet is at the Punggol Settlement which many will find it inaccessible especially like myself who doesn’t drive. When they have the outlet at Alexandra, specifically at the former NOL building, it is convenient for me to pay them a visit and try out the food whipped by their kitchen.

A pity at this outlet, they aren’t open on weekends as such it made it difficult for me to visit. Somehow, I made an impromptu visit to Horizon Bistronomy at Alexandra for lunch with a colleague. And we noticed that their business was brisk.

Horizon Bistronomy At Alexandra Road, Labrador Park, Singapore - Indoor Seating Area

Horizon Bistronomy offers more Al Fresco seating than indoor. And it might be wiser to opt for the Al Fresco dinning area as the indoor was relatively squeezy and warm. We could hardly feel the air-conditioning.

For lunch, besides the Ala Carte menu, Horizon Bistronomy offers 2 different set menu. An Express ($15.90) comprises of an appetiser with choices of Horizon’s cold truffle angel hair or House Salade. These 2 appetisers are also available under Ala Carte at $7 and $6 respectively. For mains, it is a Daily Chef’s Special and it comes with a drink, Ice Lemon Tea.

Horizon Bistronomy At Alexandra Road, Labrador Park, Singapore - Foie Gras ($12)

Otherwise, opt for the Premium ($24.90), that is with 3-course. First, the appetiser with 5 selections; Horizon’s cold truffle angel hair, Asparagus, Truffle mushroom soup, Salad nicoise with tuna tataki and the fifth being Foie Gras which require a top-up of $3. All dishes are also available as Ala Carte.

I went after the Foie Gras ($12 for ala carte). Commonly the Foie Gras is pan seared and no exception here. And it is paired with Earl grey pear, Chardonnay pear compote, pear puree and Earl Grey reduction. It left a deep impression on me as I only remember savouring pear cooked in different flavours. But I won’t reject this dish since I have a soft spot for Foie Gras.

Horizon Bistronomy At Alexandra Road, Labrador Park, Singapore - Truffle Fries ($7)

We ordered the Truffle Fries ($7) for sharing. The portion was relatively reasonable for the price. We spotted some shredded truffle scattered among the fries. We could smell and savour truffle fragrance. There were 2 sauces, a truffle mayonnaise and a ketchup.

Horizon Bistronomy At Alexandra Road, Labrador Park, Singapore - Duck Leg ($19)

Moving quickly to the Mains, I have the Duck Leg ($19). It was a home made duck leg confit sat on roasted pumpkin puree, corn spinach & cucumber and blood orange sauce. I like the Duck Leg confit, it was with the perfect amount of salt but the accompaniment were too sweet which I didn’t enjoy.

Horizon Bistronomy At Alexandra Road, Labrador Park, Singapore - Poulet ($18)

The second Main we had was the Poulet ($18). Strip of Sous vide chicken breast on roasted parsnip puree, paired with corn and sweet peas. And there should be Shimeiji mushroom, as my colleague is allergy to mushroom, we requested this to be excluded from the plate. Chicken jus was served by the side. Though the chicken was bland, the Chicken jus does the trick to enhance the flavour.

Other Main choices available were Pork belly ($18), Salmon ($18), Home made pasta ($18) and Mushroom risotto ($17).

Horizon Bistronomy At Alexandra Road, Labrador Park, Singapore - Ispahan Paris-Brest ($4.90)

Finally, dessert time, 5 choices were available. Carrot Cake with cream cheese ($5.90), Isaphan Paris-Brest ($4.90), Fresh Fruit tart ($3.90), Bread & Butter Pudding ($3.90) and Apple Pithivier ($3.90).

My pick was the Isaphan Paris-Brest ($4.90). We enjoyed the dessert. Though the pastry was a little dry, we like the rose scent and the lychee combination. And I couldn’t say I enjoy the raspberry as it was quite sour.

NAHMJ Verdict

Horizon Bistronomy ambience is homely and casual. And lucky, they serve pretty fast during lunch. Service is amiable. Food is pretty good though there are certain food aspect which aren’t our preference. And if they could improve the air-conditioning system in the restaurant would be more than welcome.
