Mokka Coffee Cabana Cafe At South Quarter, Jakarta, Indonesia - Our Lunch

Mokka Coffee Cabana Cafe At South Quarter – Jakarta, Indonesia

Mokka Coffee Cabana Cafe has quite a few cafes spread throughout Jakarta. The one I visited was at South Quarter. Perhaps the most convenient location might be Lippo Mall.

Admittedly, I was first inveigled by Mokka Coffee Cabana Cafe design. Though the entire space look white, it has designs such as doodling on the wall and they have smartly used mosaic to create some structure and design instead of leaving it plain white. In short, one might feel the hipster look in it.

Mokka Coffee Cabana Cafe At South Quarter, Jakarta, Indonesia - Smoking room

It is interesting to see how the cafe take good care of the smokers. The cafe create a special room for the smokers to smoke in this aquarium looking room. This is a very common sight for cafe in Jakarta.

Mokka Coffee Cabana Cafe At South Quarter, Jakarta, Indonesia - Barista in action

The working space of the barista is open while the kitchen is closed. Nonetheless, I like the idea of opening up the work space of the barista, as such cafe hoppers like myself could admire the barista in action.

Drinks

A variety of drinks including coffee, hot & iced tea, frappe, mocktails, soda, coolers are served at Mokka Coffee Cabana Cafe.

Coffee

At Mokka Coffee Cabana Cafe, they offered both the espresso based coffee and hand brewed using single origins coffee too. The cafe offerred 5 single origins (Rp 33,000); Papua, Toraja, Bali, Malabar and Aceh. I tried the Toraja as my first choice Papua weren’t available. The Toraja has a chocolaty flavour but is mainly filled with the citrus note with medium body and medium to high acidity. This is my kind of coffee as I prefer a lower acidity cuppa. Though I grew to appreciate the medium acidity too.

And one to notable cuppa is the Catpuccino (Rp 39,000). This is so instagram-worthy. I couldn’t resist but to order a cup for photo sessions with the Catpuccino.

I can’t help but take lots of the Catpuccino at different angles; various side views and top view too.

Others Hot Drinks

Other hot drinks include the Hot Chocolate (Rp 37,500). The Hot Chocolate drink isn’t the most interesting drink since it is melting a bar of Cadbury Chocolate in Hot Milk. The Iced version is also available.

Two interesting drinks among the beverage menu are the Avocado Coffee (IDR 39k) and Thai Tea Granita (IDR 38.5k).

Food

For food, you could find the typical breakfast dishes, Salad, appetisers, snacks, burgers & sandwiches, Asian dishes, Pasta and finally dessert. I certainly wished I could order one dish from each section.

Asian Appetiser Selection

Local appetiser for a start, an option, the Risol (Rp 46,000). I didn’t know what exactly it was when ordering as the menu simply stated it as “An Indonesian Classic Snack perfect for anytime of the day.” When it was served, I savour creamy potato with some diced vegetables and chicken. It was overall slanted towards the sweet palate.

Another good option under Local Appetiser is the Fried Tofu (IDR 40k).

More Appetisers

Other appetisers include the Cheesy Fries (IDR 50k). Nothing cheesy except dashes of grated cheese. At least, we could savour the potato and it is crispy.

Mokka Coffee Cabana Cafe At South Quarter, Jakarta, Indonesia - Onion Rings (IDR 35k)

More selection inlcudes the Onion Rings (IDR 35k), Chicken Drumstick (IDR 47.5k) and Calamari (IDR 50k).

Mains – Asian Selection

XO Fried Rice (Rp 50,000) under the Asian section with 5 other dishes. It was a tasty dish with plentiful of seafood flavour. If Mokka could reduce the generosity of salt, it would have been perfect.

Mokka Coffee Cabana Cafe At South Quarter, Jakarta, Indonesia - Oxtail Soup (IDR 99k)

Likewise, the Oxtail Soup (IDR 99k) though flavourful, it is a little too briny.

More options includes Black Pepper Beef with Rice (IDR 50k) and Indonesian Fried Noodle (IDR 45k)

Or opt of Mie Jawa (IDR 45k) or Oxtail Fried Rice (IDR 55k).

Burgers

My colleague recommended me to order its burger and I did it with no regret. I went for the Black Jack Burger (Rp 60,000) since Black is in. The charcoal bun was fluffy and soft with good moisture retained in it. As charcoal as an ingredient would usually suck up the moist. The most laudable about the Black Jack Burger is the beef patty, firmed and yet flavourful with the perfect ratio of seasoning in it too. It would be awesome if the slice of cheese is melting.

2 other burgers available are Tower Burger (IDR 60k) and Mokka Burger (IDR 55k).

Pasta

A total of 6 dishes under the pasta section is available. One of the best is the Pesto (IDR 60k)

Another uncommon selection is the Sokka Angel Hair (IDR 60k).

For something on the safer side, Spaghetti Bolognaise (IDR 60k), Fettucine Carbonara (IDR 55k), and Aglio Olio (IDR 55k). To spice things up a little, opt for Black Pepper (IDR 60k).

Desserts

Mains with no dessert, that isn’t enjoying life to the fullest. Dessert selections are limited to 4 items. 2 Banana desserts.

Mokka Coffee Cabana Cafe At South Quarter, Jakarta, Indonesia - Banana Cheese (IDR 47.5k)

Combination of banana and cheese in the Banana Cheese (IDR 47.5k) though may not sound perfect, it is absolute a delight. And it is especially true when it is enjoyed together with ice cream.

Mokka Coffee Cabana Cafe At South Quarter, Jakarta, Indonesia - Banana Jolie (Rp 45,000)

The other banan dessert is the Banana Jolie (Rp 45,000). This is a luxurious goreng pisang with ice cream and chocolate fudge. The presentation is suitable for a cafe setting.

Mokka Coffee Cabana Cafe At South Quarter, Jakarta, Indonesia - Affogato (IDR 37.5k)

Another worthy item is the Affogato (IDR 37.5k). At Mokka Cafe, they served it with shaved ice espresso instead of hot espresso. If all aren’t your desired option, the last option is Ice Cream (IDR 37.5k)with choices of Coffee, Green Tea, Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry flavours.
