Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe Harbourfront Centre - Facade Overview

Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe Harbourfront Centre – Singapore

Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe has opened an outlet at HarbourFront Centre. This is not my favourite Hong Kong Cafe in Singapore, but since it is within reach we thought we give it a try. I must say there is a pleasant surprise in our meal.

As all Hong Kong Cafe, at least the ones in Singapore, it is clean and it has some sort of the Hong Kong Cha Chaan Teng look. At every weekdays lunch, it is always packed.

It has the typical Hong Kong Cafe menu with a handful of Dim Sum for selections. Diners would have to flip through the relatively thick menu and will find one is spoiled for choice.

We started our lunch with some classic Dim Sum such as Har Gao, Siu Mai and Pan-fried Carrot Cake and Deep fried Beancurd Skin.

The Har Gao and Siu Mai were average. While we have a good impression for the Deep Fried Beancurd Skin.

The Pan-fried Carrot Cake was likewise average.

We chose something rather unhealthy, the Luncheon Meat with Egg Sandwich. We enjoyed this dish. The luncheon Meat was delish and with egg enhances the taste.

The next dish was our pleasant surprise. It was the first time we ordered the Fermented Pork Curry Noodle. Though the fermented pork is a little too salty but we thought well of this dish. The curry has a nice fragrance and the entire combination complemented well. I would order this dish the next time I dine there again.

As I love baked rice, we decided to go ahead and order the Chicken Chop Baked Rice. This was the most disappointing dish among the dishes we ordered. The rice tasted almost like white rice and there isn’t much sauce beneath the cheese layer. In addition, cheese was not sufficient for the amount of rice in the portion. I will not order this at my subsequent visit.

For a well balanced meal, we chose a green, the Poached Lettuce. Nothing much to comment about this green except that the green was fresh.

NAHMJ Verdict

Most of the dishes at Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe HarbourFront outlet was average with my favourite dish disappoints. The saving grace was the Fermented Pork Curry Noodle. If you wouldn’t mind a little salty, opt for this dish.
