BAKE Cheese Tart Hailling From Japan

BAKE Cheese Tart originated from Kinotoya with its long established bakery at Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. Interestingly, the original Cheese Tart were the Chilled Blueberry Cheese Tart which wasn’t popular. When it was sold as freshly baked, it attracted queue for this delectable pastry and as such BAKE was borned. Now the freshly baked Cheese Tart are now sold by BAKE instead.

 

Strangely, BAKE is no longer established at Hokkaido where its origin was. Instead it is now found in mainly Tokyo with 2 other outlets in other parts of Japan (one in Kyusyu and 1 in Kansai). For the rest of the world, one in Hong Kong, one in Seoul and the last in Bangkok. Why not in Singapore?

I am not sure about the situation in Japan and Seoul but in Hong Kong and Bangkok, both these outlets attracted long queue. I first got to know about it when I spotted the outlet when it first opened at Sogo Causeway Bay in Hong Kong. Queue was at least 45 minutes, I didn’t bother. When my sister went to Bangkok for holiday, she saw BAKE Cheese Tart, without knowing it is the popular bakery but only with the indication of long queue, she joined the queue.

She got a box of six. I didn’t manage to get a picture of the box and the presentation, mainly due it was left with 2 when I am home in the late evening. The box has a unique layout which I would describe it as a cupboard with 2 decks. Each deck could contain 3 BAKE Cheese Tart nicely.

 

Coming to the golden question, How’s the Taste? I would describe it as creamy cheese cake on a buttery biscuit like tart base. I have not eaten one that was freshly baked and was still pipping hot. I suppose that’s when it tasted the best. Hence I couldn’t agree with most review that it was heavenly and so on. Though it was chilled but at room temperature may have lost some of the cheesy fragrance. For the room temperature version, personally I would prefer having the cheese cake that is on the tart alone. The biscuit tart was too thick. Quality was inconsistent too. One of the tart base was thicker than the other.

 

 

NAHMJ Verdict

 

BAKE Cheese Tart even when eaten at room temperature has a great cheesy aroma which I enjoyed. I didn’t enjoyed eating it with a thick tart base. And I must try on another occasion to eat it when it was freshly bake to determine how good it will be. That will be next time for now.
