Getting To Macau From Hong Kong International Airport

Though I have been to Macau a few times, it has always been taking the ferry from Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal at Sheung Wan. Getting to Macau from Hong Kong International Airport was never the choice. I thought I should give it a try for once.

My first experience for the trip was relatively with ease. The only feedback I have is the timing of the ferry schedule for getting to Macau from Hong Kong International Airport wasn’t friendly. As the frequency was relatively low.

Depending on where your flight landed, you may even pass by the ferry ticketing counter first (but without realising). Our flight arrived at around gate 15 – 19 as such, we got to the immigration area directly and spotted the signature directing

The ferry counter located at transfer area E2. It is behind the row of shops including the Duty Free Shop. But first you will spot the Ferry Boarding gate. And the counter is on your left. Alternatively, look for Super Super Congee and Noodle 一粥麵 outlet. It is diagonally opposite.

Once you locate the ferry ticketing counter, it is a breeze from here. There are 2 ferry operator at the ferry ticketing counter; CKS and Turbojet. Both operators sail to both Taipa Ferry Terminal and the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal. We went for the CKS as I thought of trying out Cotai Ferry this round. If you are unsure of which is the correct queue, inquire with the friendly staff. They do speak English.

When purchasing the ferry ticket(s), do remember to pass your baggage tag receipt to the counter staff as they need this important document to retrieve your baggage and port it to your ferry. For me, I did take a photo of my baggage tag receipt before handing it over to the staff. It is really all about the just in case. For passenger with luggage, you need at least 60 minutes before scheduled ferry departure time for the transfer procedures. 30 minutes for passengers without luggage.

From the ticketing counter to the ferry terminal, it took us 15 minutes of travelling time. First, get to the Ferry Boarding gate from the ticketing counter. Hand your passport and ferry ticket to the guy manning the gate. Then proceed to the escalator and take the train.
