The Library Cafe located within the ground floor of Lane Crawford. Guests could enter via the entrance nearest to the Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier. We imagined the cafe packed due to its location but it turned out to be relatively empty when we arrived at the cafe. And it was a Sunday afternoon in October around 3pm. We were surprised.
When gleams of the light bulb caught my eyes from a distance away, I was attracted. As I approached nearer and finally the full cafe came into sight, I like it. The table fairly spaced apart, except the seats at the communal table. Hence, giving space with slight privacy. It was mainly minimalist except for the shelves by the wall. All in all, the space was clean and sleek. Since the name was Library Cafe, I was expecting shelves of books but clearly that wasn’t per my imagination.
Food were mainly cakes and pastries. I like the available selection of cakes at The Library Cafe.
If cake isn’t your choice, 2 other food spotted at the cafe were extremely thin crust pizza and honey toast.
Drinks menu were very standard with the usual list of coffee, tea, fresh juice, soft drink and bottled water.
Of all the interesting cakes at the display, Lemon Tart was the choice of cake for our tea that day. Mainly due to a conservative cafe-hopper was my dining partner for the day. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t complaining, Lemon Tart is as good. This one has a pretty good balance of sweet and sour taste. And were lightly sweetened and sourish. Biscuit tart base was also lightly buttery.
Cappuccino was the usual boring choice and for coffee drinkers who like their coffee sweet could choose the Vanilla Bean Latte. It was sweetened with Vanilla and flavoured too. Coffee was with low acidity, full body and with nutty flavour hint.
NAHMJ Verdict
The Library Cafe at The Lane Crawford Hong Kong is a nice space for shoppers to stop by for a drink and some light snack.
