Sing Hong Kong Cafe - Interior View From the Front

Sing Hong Kong Cafe At Everton Park – Outram, Singapore (Closed)

Sing Hong Kong Cafe has taken over Batterworks Cafe. I was elated to have an additional option. To be exact, another variety added to the area. Since Everton Park was saturated with cafe and bakery, this is refreshing to the vicinity.

The first thing I notice about Sing Hong Kong Cafe when I reached the cafe was the menu that was pasted on the glass panel. I took a glance. At the first glance, it didn’t pleased me as I couldn’t find much dishes that I like.

Sing Hong Kong Cafe - Menu

When I entered the cafe, personally, I thought it looks raw. I don’t remember how Batterworks Cafe looked like previously but I suspect much are in its originality. Perhaps except the photos.

Sing Hong Kong Cafe - Interior View From the back

There were quite a number of items not introduced at its infancy stage, such as the Grill Pork Belly Rice, Baked Pork Chop Rice (a dish that I usually order at the Hong Kong styled cafe in Singapore) and a few others.

Sing Hong Kong Cafe - Slow Grilled Chicken Chop Rice (with Tomato Sauce, Creamy Corn or Oyster Sauce)

And so I made do with the Slow Grilled Chicken Chop Rice ($7.80). Diners could choose Tomato Sauce, Creamy Corn or Oyster Sauce. Though Black Pepper was indicated on the menu, was not available. I was recommended to go with the Creamy Corn sauce but was kind of reluctant. Anyway, I asked for both the tomato and creamy corn sauce for trying. I prefer the tomato sauce but like neither.

Somehow, I feel that something was lacking in the dish but I couldn’t pinpoint to exactly what it was. Nonetheless, it was a comfort bowl of rice.

Sing Hong Kong Cafe - Milk Tea

Milk Tea was average. I thought it could be better.

NAHMJ Verdict

NAHMJ thought though the idea is great but menu and dishes require some improvement. The service was friendly and warm though when it got crowded it could be a little slow. But I could sense that they are trying their very best. What they did very well was to inform customer of the unavailable dishes and to highlight which dishes served to the table faster.
