House of Fins 官翅 doesn’t have an English name for its shop. I translated it from its Chinese name. The fins here are refering to shark fins. I know, I know, we should be conserving the sharks but once in a while indulgence, I suppose.
Over at Macau, in particular, along Rua da Felicidade, there are a number of shops selling the shark fins soup. One of them that we decided to pop into is House of Fins 官翅.
Interior is very much like a Chinese home without any concept of interior design theme. Everything are pretty much random put together; from the furniture to the accessories. After all, a very casual dinning environment.
Menu once again is in Chinese. There isn’t any English menu. At least, I didn’t find one in the outlet.
Double Superior Shark’s Fin with Chicken Stock (大排翅+ 勾翅) is the most superior shark’s fin soup among the variety offered. In it there were 2 different part of the superior shark fins, cooked with Chicken Stock. The soup is surely richly filled with Chicken flavour.
Braised Shark’s Fin Soup (竹笙凤尾翅) was our second order of Shark Fin Soup. This claypot of soup, in my opinion is more flavourful and rich.
We ordered 2 pot of Claypot Rice, our order supposed to be a Wax Meat Claypot Rice and the other Chicken Claypot Rice but the kitchen made a mistake. In the end we got 2 pot of the latter.
The chicken was smooth and succulent and rice was grainy; neither it was too dry or too wet. There was a special sauce prepared for the Claypot Rice.
There was a special Luo Han Fruit with Winter Melon Cooling Drink 罗汉果桂圆炖冬瓜 concocted.
NAHMJ Verdict
House of Fins 官翅 serves affordable, delish superior shark fins soup at Rua da Felicidade worth trying if you like shark fins.
