Tiann's Bakery - Dining Area

Tiann’s Bakery + Takeaway Cafe, Healthy Options – Tiong Bahru, Singapore

It has been quite some time ago since the last cafe opened at Tiong Bahru. We now welcome Tiann’s Bakery + Takeaway Cafe to Blk 71 at Seng Poh Road, facing the Tiong Bahru Market. It is attempting to bring healthy food option that were sugar and gluten free to consumers.

Tiann's Bakery - Facade

The facade of the cafe was rather industrial with cemented wall all around and only a Chinese character 甜 (meaning Sweet) as the signage.

As I pushed open the wooden frame glass door, immediately my attention was pulled towards the pastries and cakes counter.

Tiann's Bakery - Pastries

The area was long and narrow. White tiles wall and wood soften the industrial design theme. This is another cafe with glass ceiling allowing natural lighting to creep into the cafe and filled the space.

Tiann's Bakery - View of Dining area from the front

Tiann’s Bakery offers Quiche with Side Salad, Waffle (half or full) as Mains. There were some cake loaf, Carrot Cakes and Chocolate Cakes too. All the bakes they offer were flourless and sugar free. They offered gluten free bakes.

Tiann Bakery - New Potato and Smoked Salmon Quiche

Two quiche were offered; a Tomato based Quiche (I don’t remember the name) and the New Potato & Smoked Salmon Quiche were available on my day of visit. I opted for the latter. I felt the crust was a little too thick and a tad dry and it was almost salt-less. The side salad was with red wine vinegar as dressing. It was a little too sourish for me.

Tiann Bakery - Carrot Cake

Tiann Bakery - Carrot Cake Interior

Carrot Cake was with a very moist interior filled with raisins and finely shredded carrot, topped with cream frosting and walnut pieces. I felt it was almost sweet-less.

Tiann Bakery - White Coffee 7 oz with Carmelo Blend

Coffee were either Black or White with 5 or 7 oz. Tiann uses Nylon Four Chairs for the Black and Allpress Carmelo Blend for the white. Carmelo blend was full bodied, low acidity, nutty and caramel flavour hint and feel creamy. It is exactly the way I like it.

Tiann Bakery - Gelato

The best part at Tiann was you could enjoy guilt-less gelato since it doesn’t contain sugar. One less unhealthy ingredients added. I tried a number of flavours and I certainly would recommend its Pistachio with rich Pistachio and nuttiness.

NAHMJ Verdict

Tiann Bakery offers healthy option food with food extremely lightly salted, gluten free, no processed sugar, instead maple syrup was used. I find the taste generally all right but I am not used to the texture and the taste. If you are in the quest of health food, Tiann Bakery is certainly the place to turn to.
