I am not sure when has Los Primos Spanish Restaurant exist at 81 Club Street. We never once seems to notice this Spanish Restaurant. We seems to be interested in other restaurants along the stretch more than this. Till this very day.
Interior of Los Primos was homely and warm mainly contributed by the wooden furniture. And there were a glass ceiling allowing some natural light to penetrate into the space. This could be one other important factor too.
Menu at Los Primos is typical of any Spanish Restaurant. We didn’t spot anything special or unique to Los Primos. As always Paella is a big draw for us. And it was this dish that caught us into the restaurant for our virgin visit.
Our Order
Both cold and hot tapas were on the menu. We got one each 2 cold tapas and 1 hot tapa categories.
The first was the Gazpacho Andaluz (V) Traditional cold soup of tomatoes, cucumber and olive oil ($9.90). Refreshing, lightly flavoured soup and it is really cold.
Tartare De Ternera Black Angus steak tartare, capers, pickles, mustard, egg yolk ($27.90) was the star of the night. We adore this Black Angus delight.
Gambas Al Ajillo Prawns in virgin olive oil and garlic ($18.90) was the hot tapas. The prawns were mainly in its natural sweetness and lightly garlicky. Personally, it didn’t impress me as much as the Beef Tartare.
Finally we have our Mains, Paella Arroz Negro Squid-ink paella with squid, onion and pepper for 2 pax ($37). Los Primos offer two other Paella sizes, for 4 pax and 6 pax.
Both diners agreed that the dish was too salty. The bonus was the squid was tender.
NAHMJ Verdict
Despite the salty paella, but we were certainly won over by the Tartare De Ternera. We thought it was a lost found gems after all.
