The Dwelling Place Cafe - Overview of Cafe

The Dwelling Place Cafe – Tessensohn Road, Farrer Park, Singapore

I was surprised to know about The Dwelling Place Cafe located at Tessensohn Road opening hours from Facebook. It opened only on the weekends from Friday and closed for the rest of the week. I never thought a cafe would operate only 3 days of a week.

The Dwelling Place is a few door away from Art Art And Away Cafe and Hungry Heroes, for those who know them.

The Dwelling Place Cafe - By the entrance

When entered, my eyes was turned to the spiral stair.

Interior was in warm lighting. Furnitures were mainly made of wood with different shades of brown.

Menu was simple. A list of beverages and a list of food. On the food menu, only a handful of choices per category.

For snacks, there are oven baked drumlets and wings ($6.50), crispy cuttlefish roll ($3.50) and Boiled Egg (2 halves) & Potato Salad ($5.50). We chose the latter.

The boiled egg has a soft and slightly runny yolk topped with some seasme, chopped parsley and some Okaka (Japanese Bonito flakes). These ingredients really enhanced the plain jane. The potato salad instead of using the usual sour cream and mayonnaise, yohurt dressing was mixed instead, resulting in a light refreshing, isn’t too filling dish.

3 mains were served with option of one pasta, one sandwich and one risotto.

Mushroom Brown Rice Risotto ($9. 50) was our choice. At the Dwelling Place, it used brown rice. My first mouthful was filled with dumpling fragrance somehow. I thought I was having dumpling. Likewise, this dish was light.

Lemon Tart ($5.00) was sourish. Lemon Curd isn’t at all creamy.

All tea were served in pot. Tie Guan Ying Tea ($6.00) was lightly fragrance.

Verdict

Food served at The Dwelling Place is of healthier option. It is lighter in taste. The portion is also small.

Service was friendly, ambience was cosy. After all, a good place to dwell your time away.
