Lollapalooza - Open Kitchen

Lollapalooza, A Restaurant Of Sharing – Keong Saik Road

Sharing the same roof of 1 Keong Saik Street, are The Daily Round Cafe, Luxe Singapore, Neon Pigeon and also Lollapalooza. All located at the ground floor, next to each other. With so many choices under one roof, and the best part, all has its characteristics. This round Lollapalooza was our choice of restaurant.

Food For Sharing

Lollapalooza is one other restaurant that offers sharing plate. I always enjoy sharing, hence I am sure I am likely very bias against them.

On its menu, there isn’t classification of appertiser and mains. It is basically a listing of what was offered. On it were some dishes that are not meant for the faint-hearted. You can find dishes such as the Lamb Heart, which makes me wonder how many would order it. And also Veal Tongue and Rabbit, which I wouldn’t mind.

Fret not if these aren’t for you. You will still find dishes that were served commonly at Lollapalooza too.

Burrata with jamon serrano, pineapple salsa and raw honeycomb (left) and flatbread plain

Lollapalooza - Burrata with jamon serrano, pineapple salsa and raw honeycomb (left) and flatbread plain

Interestingly, the burrata cheese was accompanied with jam, pineapple salsa and honeycomb. When eaten together, it created a refreshing experience to the tastebud. It is definitely a encouraging way for people who doesn’t enjoy cheese to try some.

Cedarwood roasted barramundi fillet

Lollapalooza - Cedarwood roasted barramundi fillet

The barramundi has a nice cedarwood fragrance with its moisture retained in the fillet. I enjoyed eating it with the side sambal-like paste.

Crispy Duck Leg Confit

Lollapalooza - Crispy Duck Leg Confit

Though the Duck Confit was a little salty but tasty. One of the best Duck Confit I have so far.

Barley risotto with cockscombs braised in veal jus

If you like chewy textured food, Barley risotto is for you. Flavourful is our description.

Moving on to our finale, the desserts.

Truffled Brillat Savarin with oven-roasted grapes

Lollapalooza - Truffled Brillat Savarin with oven-roasted grapes

From the name, none of us know that it was cheese. We just wanted to find out what it was. It turned out to be a lovely piece of cheese paired with sweet and refreshing grapes. Cheese lovers rejoiced.

Raspberry basil bavarois with elderflower ice cream

Lollapalooza - Raspberry basil bavarois with elderflower ice cream

“Unique” was the word one of the diners quick comment. And indeed. Mainly due to the basil flavour which surprisingly paired welled with the rest of the ingredients.

Mango chocolate mousse cake with nut brown butter ice cream

Lollapalooza - Mango chocolate mousse cake with nut brown butter ice cream

Make sure you cut right into the mango mousse. Best eaten with both the chocolate and mango mousse layer.

Verdict

We like the ambience of Lollapalooza as its seating capacity was small, it wasn’t too rowdy. Food was exclusive. It was creative of Lollapalooza to combine some unusual ingredients to come up with the original dishes. But it certainly isn’t suitable for the less adventurous. I could imagine how my brother, whom is a conservative when it comes to food, lamenting of the choices.
