The famous Dazzling Cafe 蜜糖吐司專賣店 has finally set foot at Capitol Piazza after it has created some buzz upon news about it setting up cafe in Singapore last year. Dazzling Cafe Singapore as expected created stormed with long queue after a long awaited period of time. Finally, there wasn’t as long a queue as before, I checked it out with a friend. And the best part was, on the day of our visit, there isn’t a queue at all.
Dazzling as most know, is fame for its photogenic Shibuya Honey Toast (8 flavours) and it serves Waffle (3 flavours) as a dessert too. Mains are also found on its menu with 8 pasta and 1 risotto. A handful of others such as salad, appetizer and soup were served too. Lastly, a page full of beverages was found on Dazzling menu as well.
Pasta
The only Pasta we tried was the Mentaiko Spaghetti.
Mentaiko Spaghetti in Cream Sauce
We ordered the Mentaiko Spaghetti in Cream Sauce which was the Chef’s Recommendation.
Pasta was al dente with lightly cream sauce.
Honey Toast
Among the 8 Honey Toast, there were mainly common flavours such as Strawberry, Matcha and Chocolate. I spotted an interesting flavour, the Mango Coconut which I would like to try next.
There are 2 version of Honey Toast. Some were served in a cube box which has to be sliced, known as their first generation Toast. The second generation was much friendly for dinning. All you need to do is to lift the layers, minimum cutting is required.
NAHMJ happened to try only the 2nd generation Honey Toast.
Hazelnut Chocolate Honey Toast
The gastronomical presentation of the Honey Toast wowed me.
After lifting the top layer, the hidden Honey Toast cubes were discovered.
Each cube was filled with Nutella in it.
The Honey Toast with ice cream was heavenly. Though the cube was too huge for a mouth.
Matcha with Azuki Beans Honey Toast
The Matcha with Azuki Beans Honey Toast was inviting. It is the other 2nd generation Honey Toast, similar to the Hazelnut Chocolate Honey Toast.
At the first bite, we like the texture and the taste of the toast and so was the Matcha Ice Cream.
Slushies
NAHMJ tried 2 Slushies from 4 options.
Carribean Fruit Punch with Calpis Sorbert
A very tropical tasting yogurt drink.
There were some tiny fruit bites to provide crunch beside the icy sorbet.
Fresh Kiwi with Calpis Sobert
I didn’t try the Fresh Kiwi with Calpis Sobert.
But I suppose it was a cup of Kiwi yogurt shaved ice.
Ice Tea
Numerous option of Ice Tea was available.
Ice Pomelo Tea with Peach
The Ice Pomelo Tea was richly infused with Peach scent but I couldn’t taste much of the Pomelo. The sweet level was perfect.
Anyhow, we like the Ice Tea.
Verdict
Dazzling is very much of a novelty. The only Main NAHMJ tried was mediocre with some exceptional drinks. The Honey Toast fared better with some flavours superior than the other.
The Honey Toast Portion was way too big for sharing by 2 too. We noted that many tables with 2 has quite some good portion of the dessert left. So was our table.
As for whether will NAHMJ return? NAHMJ will dine at Dazzling when there isn’t a queue. We do enjoy the Honey Toast though.
