D' Bell Singapore - Front

D’ Bell Singapore Restaurant & Lounge – North Canal Road, Clarke Quay (Closed)

An Indian Restaurant, D’ Bell Singapore selected an unusual location, 43 North Canal Road, opposite Hong Lim Park, Speaker Corner for its establishment. We were pretty surprise for such a choice.

The dining area at the first floor has much cubicle like seating area for some privacy. And at one end, beside the bar was a corner for some cosy group dinning.

I didn’t notice previously that there is a second floor.

On the second floor is the lounge where a private function room is available for events as well.

Menu

D’ Bell has introduced a new menu from 1 July 2015 with an introduction of Indian Fusion dishes. A few sections were dedicated to this new introduction such as the pasta with Indian element and pizza on Naan bread. The Indian fusion could also be found on the Entree and Salads too.

With the next few pages, it was devoted to the traditional Indian dishes such as the Curry, Tandoori and Naan.

Soup

The Lobster Bisque was a rich & flavourful sautéed lobster with ajwani seeds. The first sip and I went “Wowed!”

D' Bell Singapore - Lobster Bisque

We would rate it as one of the best Lobster Bisque in town.

Tandoori

Aishwarya Amitsari Fish was grilled to perfectness. The moisture were still retained in the fish.

Dipping with the minty sauce, proved to be even more appetising.

Curry

D’ Bell offers quite a variety of curry using various meat; chicken, fish, prawns and mutton. Among the 8 curry on its menu, 3 were vegetarian.

Tik Tik Chicken Masala

The Tik Tik Chicken Masala was sweetish & spicy with tomato hint.

Manichitrathazhu Kerala Fish Curry

Next, we tried the Manichitrathazhu Kerala Fish Curry. A fish version of the butter chicken.

Go Goa Gone Prawn Masala

The other masala dish we tried was Go Goa Gone Prawn Masala. It was less flavourful as compared to the Chicken Masala.

Naan

I always enjoy Naan and we tried 3 of the flavours.

Kashmiri Naan

Dry Nuts and fruits and flavoured with Cardamom and Rose Petals were sandwiched between the Kashmirir Naan.

This naan reminded me of Christmas as it has a similar taste with Stollen.

Chilli Cheese Naan

Though the word chilli exist but it wasn’t spicy. The chilli here probably was referring to the bell peppers.

The Naan were sandwiched with Onions, fresh Coriander and Bell Peppers with a layered of Cheddar Cheese on top of the Naan. This tasted very much like a pizza.

Garlic Naan

Garlic Naan, a classic flavour

Remains as our favourite.

Desserts

Mango Kul is an Indian Ice Cream; using the renowned Alphonso Mango and Cardamom, topped with Pistachio

First, we savoured an unfamilar taste, very much an acquired taste. Next it was a tangy, fruity creamy mango flavour finishes. I believed the unfamilar taste to be some kind of spice. It turned out to be Cardamom.

Verdict

We felt D’ Bell does extremely well with its traditional Indian cuisine. While the Indian Fusion may be a good try but comparatively wasn’t as outstanding. We would still prefer D’ Bell to remain as a traditional Indian Restaurant instead.

NAHMJ Picks

We will surely go for the Garlic Naan with the Manichitrathazhu Kerala Fish Curry and Aishwarya Amitsari Fish
