Asymptomatic Reproductive System Disease

I recently read about Heavy Menstrual Bleeding (HMB), known as Menorrhagia in medical term. And it dawned upon me that even if your Menstrual Bleeding is normal, it does not guarantee that your reproductive system is in pink of health. Not only bleeding but when everything else seems so normal, it also does not mean you are all right.

Any symptoms such as heavy bleeding, menstrual cramp, spotting during non flow days and so on will definitely prompt one’s visit to the doctor’s office. If otherwise, asymptomatic, meaning no symptoms, one would usually does nothing. And this is where the danger is.

Definition of Normal Bleeding

In case you are wondering what is considered normal bleeding; according to NHS website, normal bleeding last around 3 to 7 days while the volume of blood lose is 3 to 5 tablespoons.

Asymptomatic Reproductive System Disease

Asymptomatic means you develop a disease with no symptoms shown as a result there is no alarm to cautious you.

What are some of the possible asymptomatic reproductive system disease?

  1. Endometrosis
  2. Uterus fibroids
  3. Ovarian Cysts

Rawson JM (1991) has a research indicating that the prevalence of asymptomatic endometrosis patient is higher than what was previously believed.

There might be more than the above listed diseases of the reproductive system, it is just to highlight to readers of the possibility.

How Diagnosis was done?

It is important to do a checkup yearly. Should there be a growth, through physical pelvic examination it could be detected. To be on the safe side, an ultrasound scan of the pelvic to view the reproductive system is an important part of the examination.

Point To Stress

In this post, I wanted to stress that despite no complaints during menstruation, it is important to have a yearly appointment with your doctor for an examination to assure that everything is all right.

Ladies, I urge you to do have your yearly examination to rule them out.
