Oven Cafe Bistro – The Commerze @ Irving, Tai Seng

Oven Cafe Bistro, a humble cafe with no extravagant in the decoration. The entire place was minimalist. For those you have been to 23Jumpin, Carol Mel Cafe at 1 Irving Place might not even notice this unassuming cafe at The Commerze which is filled with so many different competitors.

When I entered the cafe, I was warmly welcomed by the chef owner, James, who waited aside patiently for me to complete my photo taking before serving me a cup of warm water. Beside this small little gesture, he introduced us the cafe signature and highlighted that his food served at Oven Cafe Bistro was free of chemical. Everything was made from scratch.

Menu

Oven Cafe Bistro is a cafe that serves mainly Pasta and Pizza. You will find 2 other Chicken side dishes and a soup. Some common drinks and beers were on the menu too.

Oven Cafe Bistro - Menu

At the Oven, you will find five meat toppings; Ham, Bratwurst, Chicken, Baked Salmon, Salmon Sashimi and 1 vegetarian with 6 different pasta sauces; tomato based, spicy, cream, cheese and a chef’s special cream sauce.

Soup

Mushroom soup is the only soup on the menu.

It wasn’t the smooth, silky kind of cream soup. In fact, it was rather chunky filled with mushrooms bites and onions and it was certainly a flavourful bowl worth every cents. Though I find it slightly salty for me.

Pasta

The signature pasta at The Oven Cafe Bistro is the Chicken Pasta. I would highly recommend it to all as well. We choose Alfredo (cheese) sauce.

The past was perfectly al dente; Alfredo Sauce was flavourful and not salty. The chicken was flawless. The thigh meat was tasty, tender and moisture was still locked in within the meat with a slight crispy skin.

Pizza

We ordered a Ham Pizza out of 5 selections. The remaining 4 were Pepperoni, Bratwurst, Chicken and Margherita

The pizza by the Oven Cafe Bistro was with a thin and ultra crispy crust. The pizza crust was almost like a biscuit. Toppings were abundant and generous. It was completely filled with sliced ham and cheese.

Verdict

Apart from good food, service from the owner chef, James was outstanding too. My friend, after feeding her toddler, left a spoon behind, as he noted that we were adjourning for coffee session, he went to look for us, just to return the spoon. It was amazing. Moreover, on that day, it was a one man show. From cooking to payment were all by him and he could remain smiley and warm.

NAHMJ Recommendation
