Three Little Pigs is the name of this Pork overloaded restaurant found at Basement 2 of Ngee Ann City.
When I saw the name and knowing it was serving mainly Pork, I was wondered where is the Big Bad Wolf.
After stepping into the restaurant, I wandered and found! Lol! Only when the wolf devour the pigs, were the pork dishes served. Naturally, that’s the kitchen which they labelled it as Wolf!
The restaurant has cream cushy chairs and grey rows of cushion seat seats. It is a casual dinning restaurant with a classy touch in the interior design. On each table, was a pot of utensils and serviette for the convenience of patrons.
Appetiser
After looking through the list of appetisers, I thought I wanted a not too Pork dish, since I was intending to order the some Porks dishes from the Mains. And so I chose the Prawn & Bacon Frits with Mango Chili Relish.
Oh my, Bacon flavour was overwhelmed. I could hardly taste the prawns. But for a Bacon fan like my mom, she enjoyed. Both of us didn’t appreciate the Mango Chili Relsih.
Signature Pork Chop
Being a restaurant serving Pork, and its signature is the Pork Chop, we ordered the Signature Pork Chop with Apple Beurre Blanc Topping consist of Crunchy Granny Smith with White Wine Apple Sauce.
We didn’t realized while reading the menu that purely sliced Granny Smith would be topped on the pork chop. When served, we were a little disappointed and at the same time surprised.
The pork though tender and tasty but was with no originality. We didn’t find the White Wine Apple Sauce went well with the Pork. The irony is that we enjoyed the baked potato most. Instead of Bacon, Pork Floss was used.
Mains
The other main dish we have was also a Pork related dish. It was the Roasted Pork Belly with 3 Mushrooms Risotto & Parmigiano Shaving.
The Pork Belly after roasting was still so tender and juicy with a slight crispy skin. It was considerably the better Roasted Pork Belly.
As for the Risotto, it was as flavourful as it should be. Though lots of mushrooms pieces were seen in the rice but the risotto did not emit strong Mushroom aroma. It was a quite a pity.
Desserts
My Mom fall in love with Panna Cotta after I have gotten her a very delish one the day before so instinctively, she chose the Pandan Panna Cotta with Coconut Meringue.
The Pandan Panna Cotta was served with roasted grated coconut and a coconut Meringue Stick. Rich pandan fragrance was savoured from the not too sweet Pandan Panna Cotta. With slightly roasted grated coconut, it definitely enhanced the dessert. When eaten together with the Coconut Meringue, though it sweetened the dessert as a whole, it masked the Pandan flavour. We felt that some tuning recipe for this dessert is required.
Drinks
I didn’t appreciate for not serving ice or warm water.
The service crew recommended me Green Tea that she said it was very nice. It turned out to be Lipton Green Tea. I was a little taken aback.
Verdict
We were expecting more creative dishes from this pork restaurant since it is a pork specialty restaurant. Though the Pork Chop was tender, we were a little disappointed, especially when we saw that it was literally pure sliced granny smith topped onto the pork chop.
In general, the dishes was above average and I hope to see more creativity from Three Little Pigs.
