Gyoza-ya - Ion Orchard Restaurant Front

Gyoza-Ya – Ion Orchard Singapore

Many has claimed Gyoza-Ya to serve the best Gyoza in Singapore. With the success of its first outlet at the basement of Robinson, it now has a second at Orchard Ion.

Gyoza is the main feature on Gyoza-Ya menu; with some noodles, limited rice, a selective sides and desserts are found on the menu as well.

Yaki Pork Gyoza

The Gyoza served at Gyoza-ya is mainly with pork filling, Yaki Pork.

Gyoza-ya - Yaki Pork, Pan-Fried Dumpling with Pork

I tried two out of the 5 flavours listed on the menu. One of which of course has to be the Pan-Fried Dumpling with Pork

Gyoza-ya - Yaki Pork Gyoza, Pan-Fried Dumpling with Prawn

Being a seafood lover, I went for the Pan-Fried Dumpling with Prawn. In it, besides pork, there are one or two bite size prawn pieces. I was expecting a little more prawns than that.

In general, the dumpling is flavourful, juicy and its dumpling skin was notably very thin. I notice some preserved vegetable in it. This emit a strong flavour in the dumpling. I suspect some may not like this taste.

Seasonal Menu

On one of my visit, the Mentaiko Miso Gyoza was on its seasonal menu.

Gyoza-ya - Mentaiko Miso Gyoza

Using the original Pork Gyoza, Mentaiko Miso was glazed on the top. Due to the Mentaiko Miso, the gyoza tasted heavenly. I hope it will get into its Regular menu. If you like rich sauce, this is definitely customized for you.

Men (Noodles)

Tokusei Tonkotsu Ramen has a rich porky flavour soup stock. The braised meat was tenderwith Egg Added

Since it was my first time seeing the Jya Jya Men, I was curious to find out the taste.

Gyoza-ya - Jya Jya Men

Jya Jya Sauces with thinly sliced cucumber and leek were served together with the broad noodles. Mixed well before consuming.

Gyoza-ya - Jya Jya Men (after mix)

The Jya Jya Men is smooth and slight chewy. The Jya Jya sauce was flavourful and yet not too blend or salty but it wasn’t enough for the bowl of noodle. The cucumber provide the crunch while the leek enhance the aroma of the Jya Jya sauce.

Rice

The Garlic Fried Rice in Gyoza-ya was fried with tonnes of choped garlic. You could easily identified them. And lots of eggs were fried in the rice too.

Definitely a flavourful and tasty bowl of Garlic Fried Rice.

Verdict

Gyoza-ya indeed serve great gyoza. I like the idea of having the portion small so that I could order a variety even when dining as an individual. Other food options are just as delish as the Gyoza.

NAHMJ Recommendation

If you like sauce, go for the Mentaiko Miso Gyoza and followed by Garlic Fried Rice if you prefer rice. Otherwise go for the Tokusei Tonkotsu Ramen.

Gyoza is definitely a good place when you need to dine solo. One other point, they are fast in serving the food, hence good place for a fast and yet decent meal too.
