Red Barron Cafe - Overview

Red Baron Cafe – Malan Road, Gillman Barrack Singapore (Closed)

Getting to Red Baron Cafe at Malan Road, within the ground of Gillman Barrack isn’t as tough as I have imagined.

Red Barron Cafe - Pathway from the bus stop opp former NOL Building

Thanks to the newly built pathway located behind the bus stop opposite former NOL Building, in between Singapore Teachers Academy (former St Andrew Junior College) and 991 Alexandra Road (former ITE).

Right at the end of this pathway, you will find Red Baron Cafe on its right.

Red Barron Cafe - Outdoor Seating

When I spotted Red Baron, I fall in love with its ambience. Immediately, I know it is going to be a good place to spend my weekend afternoons doing some reading at. I am sure I will be back, doing this soon.

Red Baron Cafe offers quite a number of Al Fresco seats and a small number of indoor seats.

Menu

Food offering is still pretty limited with 4 on its Breakfast, 2 salads and 3 pasta dishes.

But they have a good variety of cakes and tarts. I was spoilt for choice.

Red Baron also offer Craft Beers, seems like this is in the trend these days.

Breakfast Menu

On the day of my visit, Red Baron was introducing a new item, the Full Breakfast, Baked Beans in Mediterranean Style.

I am not a bean fan but thought I should be adventurous and give it a try. I was glad I did. It was so good. Mainly because I like that particular spice flavour. I am not too sure what it was but I suspect it might be cumin. The bread is something which I think they need to improve one.

Cakes & Tarts

All the Bakes at Red Baron Cafe were baked in-house, informed by the service crew. When I heard of this, immediately, I wanted to try something on the deck. I was recommended the Lemon Lime Meringue Tart which I was keen to try too.

The Lemon Lime Curd was on the sourish scale end. But luckily with the meringue that was pretty sweet. It managed to balance the taste a little. Definitely not the best and anyhow, I am not complaining. I like it sourish than sweet.

Espresso-based Coffee

Over at Red Baron, they chose to use Liberty coffee beans, in case you were wondering who’s beans it was from.

Red Barron Cafe - Cappuccino

Cappuccino was my order, pretty usual, no surprise. This cuppa is a medium acidity and body with citrus cream hint.

Verdict

Red Baron Cafe has nice ambience for lazing and spending your afternoon with some good books, with coffee and cakes and tarts. I am sure I will be back to do that real soon.
