HOT, The House of Taste Cafe & Bar – Market Street

HOT is the abbreviation for House of Taste. It is a cafe by day and bar by night, located at a corner of CapitaGreen ground floor, a new building where the former Market Street Carpark occupied.

The space has a high ceiling with mainly industrial theme.

The Cafe serves a good selection of Pastries in regular size and mini. Besides the wide variety of pastries, you will find Sandwiches, in small and big sizes, a few cakes. For lunch you get Soup and Pancake as well. As for drinks, the usual; coffee, tea or chocolate drinks.

By night, you will get small bites to go along with the alcoholic drinks.

HOT, The House of Taste Cafe & Bar - Available Coffee Bean Types

Each week, HOT offers 2 types of beans for selection.

Food

The pastries were nicely layed by a side table. You will see the regular size and the minis. For the mini, there were a total of 6 selections: cinamon, kaya, vanilla chocolate, strudel apple, chocolate and raspberry. 1 for $3, 2 for $4 and 3 for $5. Personally, I don’t think it is cheap for the size but it is a good way for me to try the various flavours.

HOT, The House of Taste Cafe & Bar - My pastries selection, Mini Kaya Whirl, Vanilla Chocolate Whirl and Strudel Apple

My pastries selection, Mini Kaya Whirl, Vanilla Chocolate Whirl and Strudel Apple. Among my selection, I like the Kaya whirl best and Vanilla Chocolate Whirl least with Strudel Apple as neutral.

Drinks

Interestingly, the coffee was served in brightly coloured cups that are in different colours cup and saucers. I like it.

Between the 2 beans available on the day of visit, El Salvador Finca Carmen and Tanzania Tembo Tembo Estate, I chose the former as I was informed the former is less acidic that I prefer.

HOT, The House of Taste Cafe & Bar - Cappuccino with El Salvador Finca Carmen

My cup of cappuccino with El Salvador Finca Carmen was a pretty balanced cup with medium body and acidity. Its has a milk chocolate and citrus flavour note.

Verdict

HOT, The House of Taste Cafe & Bar has nice ambience, though the space is a little too small. For those of you who is looking to do some work or surf net while enjoying the cuppa, yes, HOT provides complimentary Wifi.

After all, it is a good addition to the area.
