Nunsaram Korean Dessert Café - Overview

Nunsaram Korean Dessert Cafe – Orchard Central

More and more Bingsu Cafe is opening in Singapore. Nunsaram Korean Dessert Cafe has jumped onto the bandwagon and started its business at Level 5 of Orchard Central with closest rivalry, O’ma Spoon next door at 313 Somerset.

Nunsaram Korean Dessert Café - Menu

The highlight in Nunsaram is of course the Bingsu with options of toppings. In addition, you find a couple of drinks and a handful of sides such as Toast and Tteogkkochi

Snow Flake Bingsu

Nunsaram offers a total of 12 flavours of Bingsu and of course the Pat Bingsu is available too. One of the interesting flavour that I spotted on the menu was the Sweet Potato Bingus. I don’t remember seeing it in other Korean Dessert Cafe. The rest were pretty common such as Oreo, Green Tea and Cheese.

I was in the mood for Injeolmi Bingsu. As it does not come with ice cream, I ordered an additional scoop of Green Tea Ice Cream.

The presentation of the bowl of bingsu was typical. A huge heap of shaved ice covered with a layer of ingredients and topped it off with the ice cream. The amount of soy powder, toasted flake almonds and Injeolmi was generous. The Injeolmi was rather chewy to the extend of a little hard like the chewing gums. The green tea ice cream was lightly flavoured. In other words, the green tea flavour was not strong enough. Lastly as for the shaved ice, texture was fine, soft like snow.

Side Menu – Bread

A few bloggers and instagrammers has been raving about the Garlic Cheese Bread. As a Garlic bread cum Cheese fan, I ought to try it.

The bread tasted both savoury and sweet. On the top is the cheese and the garlic butter spread that contributed to the savoury while in the middle is some yellow cheese like spread that contributed to the sweet flavour. So you gotta eat both the slices together to fully savour the bread. It didn’t wow me but I am basis towards both garlic and cheese and I am going to give a thumb up.

Drinks

I have a cup of Cappuccino from Nunsaram too. They powdered it with cinnamon.

The coffee has a light body and low acidity. The flavour note was purely nutty. Personally, I will give the coffee a miss the next time. Not my cup of coffee.

Conclusion

After trying a number of Bingsu, Nunsaram is one which I enjoyed in terms of total experience. From the shaved ice texture to the toppings and ice cream, it is pretty balance. And importantly, it is located at such a central location which is convenience for me and I am sure for many too.

NAHMJ’s Recommendation

We would recommend you to go for the Bingsu and if you are in the mood for bread, opt the Garlic Cheese Bread and give the coffee a miss.
