Hong Kong Egg Waffles or otherwise known as Egglet are some of the name given to this Hong Kong Famous Favourite Street Snack. The local name given to this street snack is 雞蛋仔. You can practically see Egglets stall set up in all corners of Hong Kong. I went round Hong Kong savouring the Egglets from various stall to find the best of the best.

North Point Egglets won the heart of many and have deemed to be the best in Hong Kong so how can I not try it.

 

 

I went to the outlet at Wan Chai, not the original stall at North Point.

Each bag has a serial number printed, not sure if you have spotted it.

 

 

As for the taste-wise, I didn’t find it fantastic. In fact, I think it is overly rated. I couldn’t taste the nice lightly eggy flavour at the first bite. Instead only sweet sweet taste. It was very disappointing.

I spotted an Egg Waffle shop with quite a crowd. I thought to myself, it must be very good so got one to try as well.

 

 

They have it in four flavours; original, chocolate, yam and seasame and coconut. I went for the original.

 

 

The egglets has a very lighty eggy hint. The egglet was a little on the wet side, especially on the inside of the egglet. It wasn’t completely cooked. The good part was, it wasn’t too sweet.

 

 

Mammy Pancake 媽咪雞蛋仔

It is known to be the best of the best. Now there is an outlet at Mongkok too. This is good news to all.

This egglet is cooked over charcoal fire, the traditional way of making. This is the best. It is crispy on its outer layer and soft and moist in the egglets. It is extra flavourful. It would be perfect if it is a little less sweet. By far, this egg waffle has the most correct elements in it.
