On Duxton Hill is MavRx Coffee Apothecary. A cafe with nothing else to offer but only coffee beans and an espresso machine for pouring cups after cups of cuppa. You can see MavRx akin to a drugstore, offering cuppa for fixing ones caffeine craving.
Menu is kept simple and short forward. With Espresso, Black, White, Iced and an option of Extra Shot.
The cafe is on monochrome with some repeated patterns to make it a little interesting. You can only find a wooden bench for seats. There is a bar table over the glass windows for cafe-hoppers to people watch as one enjoy a cuppa.
The coffee uses a blend, Carmelo Blend, of four beans. The Sumatra and Colombia as the base. And Guatemala and Brazil to increase the acidity. I would have imagine the coffee as a complex one.
Coffee White
The result of the Quattro blend coffee is a cup of balance acidity with full bodied. It has light caramel sweetness with some chocolate flavour hint.
It is creamy and smooth on the palate with no after taste at all. It was extreme easy on the palate. The aroma and the flavour hints hardly linger in the mouth after the coffee was swallowed. No doubt it was a good balance cup but personally I feel it was lacking of characteristics. In fact, it was over balance.
