Koh Grill & Sushi

Koh Grill & Sushi In Food Republic Wisma Atria

I am sure most have known about Koh Grill & Sushi and its Shiok Maki by now. It is no longer a hidden gem after so much of lime light by bloggers (not only the food bloggers but lifestyle bloggers too), the media and through word of mouths by the non-bloggers. With all these, they have attracted long queue every single day and at every single hours. And after so long, I finally have dinner at Koh Grill & Sushi with a friend to celebrate her belated birthday.

We gave Shiok Maki a miss since everyone has been talking about it. I want to find out for myself, how other items on their menu fare.

Koh Grill & Sushi

The first item served was the Fried Udon from our list of order. As usual, all stirred fried are kind of oily. This was no exception. They have fried it with lots of eggs. I saw huge chunks of them. Taste-wise, it wasn’t as tasty when it was eaten warm, it tasted better when it was cold.

Koh Grill & Sushi - Maki

For the Maki, there were quite a few other selections, beside the all famous Shiok Maki, we went for the, I can’t remember the name. In it there were soft shell crab and on the top was a slice of tuna. Personally, we felt that the “Wow” factor came from the rich creamy Mayo-like sauce. This sauce enhanced the maki and make it really yummy, but at the same time, it also masked a little of the sweetness of the sashimi slice. Don’t get me wrong, nonetheless, I am not complaining, I do like it.

Koh Grill & Sushi - Cod Fish

We ordered a Cod Fish with Roe for sharing too. This dish is very characteristics of Koh Grill & Sushi Bar, it was once again the creamy sauce that does the magic. The only feedback I have is, there were quite some bones in it. I chose the cod fish as this fish is usually quite boneless.

Koh Grill & Sushi - Chicken Wing, Bacon rolled with Asparagus

Lastly, we have some grills too. We have the Chicken Wing and the Aspara Buta. The grilling skill was excellent. This was especially true for the Bacon. There was a slight crispy texture and yet I could taste the tender Bacon too. Together with the sweetness of the asparagus, it was wonderful.

Food was served swiftly but the environment was a little far too noisy. On the whole, Koh Grill & Sushi Bar does live up to its name. So the next time, don’t go only for its Shiok Maki, try out other dishes. And if you can make sure you and your friend(s) can turn up together on time for the reservation, drop them a sms to reserve. This could help to avoid the wait. Koh Grill & Sushi only hold your reservation for 10 minutes and all guests must be present before you could get a table, otherwise you will loose your reservation.
