Pat Bingsu is a Korean Shaved Ice with Red Bean dessert and it is the first Korean dessert that I know of. When I first tried Bingsu, it reminded me of our Ice Kacang. Hehe. A heap of shaved ice with flavoured syrup poured over it and topped with some ingredients and at the base, there are some ingredients too. Don’t you think Pat Bingsu is very much like Ice Kacang?
And cafe selling the Pat Bingsu has started sprouting throughout Singapore and is becoming more and more of a popular dessert. So I decided to come up with this list for sharing.

Opening Hours: Daily 1200 to 2200

I tried my first Pat Bingsu at One Ice Cafe. Find it pretty interesting. They served only 4 flavours of Pat Bingsu; Original (with Vanilla ice cream), Matcha (with Matcha ice cream), Oreo (with Vanilla ice cream and oreo crumbles) and Classic (without ice cream). The shaved ice was fine but the flavour that drizzle over the ice was too little. Read more.

One Thing Coffee Kids Cafe is one other cafe that offer a smaller portion, the Cup Patbingsu.
As for the shaved ice texture, it could be finer.

They are probably the first few, if not the first to have the Pat Bing Su. It was a very big bowl of shaved ice. The good thing about Bing Go Jung is that the condensed milk is served separatedly and you drizzle what you needed. The shaved ice was fine and the flavour in the shaved ice was pretty sufficient. I could taste the flavour at each mouth.

Though the shaved ice is a little rough but the matcha flavour and red bean were abundant. And they serve the condensed milk separately too. I like the sticky rice cakes. Since it is in Chinatown area, this make it the most convenient to get the Pat Bingsu. Read more.

Bibing 비빙
50 Smith Street Singapore 058958
Opening Hours: Daily 1200 to 2100
FB: https://www.facebook.com/bibingcafe?fref=ts
Bibing is the latest kid on the block in Chinatown who jumped into the bandwagon after Banana Tree and Cafe Insa-dong. The texture of shaven ice was one of the best, very fine and soft. Bibing is so very creative with Bingsoo. They came up with a very healthy version, filled with fresh fruits, the Bibim. They even have the egg in the centre. The egg white is yogurt while the yolk is apricot. Like the Bibimbap, you will mix well before eating it. The Bibim is not cheap, at $18. Read more.

Tom N Toms offers free WiFi and has ample seats. Another plus point, it open from early in the morning till late in the night. And the Pat Bingsu is awesome too. It has quite a number ingredients beside the big bowl shaved ice. It has glutinous rice balls, red beans and lots of nuts, providing an extra texture. I wish the shaved ice to be finer and that would be awesome.

If you are working around Raffles Place around and are craving for a Pat Bingsu, hop over to Chicken N Ken. The shaved ice is reasonably fine and the ingredients was enough to accompany the shaved ice so that you won’t be feeling like you are eating only ice. For those who don’t feel that it is sweet enough, the condensed milk is provided in the syringe. Good for customisation. Read more.

As compared to the rest of the Bingsu I tried. The toppings on the Bingsu was relatively lesser and size of the ice cream was small. As a result, it wasn’t as flavourful as it could be. And the next factor, the price was pretty much the same as most in the market, making this a little on the expensive end.

The cheapest Pat Bingsu in the cafe is priced at $12.90 with premium at $18.90 making it the most expensive Pat Bingsu. I tried the Coffee Bingsu which is considered to the Premium Bingsu. The shaved ice is indeed different. Somehow, it doesn’t melt in the mouth but sublime. That’s how I feel. The coffee for the Bingsu was a small cup so personally I feel that it wasn’t enough for the entire bowl of ice.

The Pat Bingsu has a heap of ice and tons of syrup and condensed milk and there is no other ingredients at the bottom. You need to place your order at the Self Service Kiosk that are stationed at the entrance. Since the restaurant is at Sentosa Island, so after having fun out in the sun, time for something cool and a Pat Bingsu would be nice.
