The Hangar - Bar Counter

The Hangar | Arab Street

Kampong Glam Area is getting all the hipster vibes. With more and more cafe entering the vicinity. I have just posted on Hyde & Co and now it is time for The Hangar.

From the name, I associated it with the theme of housing of aircraft, but I don’t find any so I suppose The Hangar is to be taken by the other definition, of a shelter.

The Hangar - Interior

The design in The Hangar is very much rustic with vintage mixed. It is pretty cool in decor, I would say. The space is considerably small. There are some Al Fresco seats as well if you like people watching.

Food served in The Hangar are kinda simple fare with eggs for breakfast; granola, lamb stew, big breakfast, waffles for brunch. Alternatively you can have sandwiches or salad for lunch.

I wanted to try the Chicken Casablanca but it wasn’t available. In fact, there was a number on the menu unavailable as they were only one day old. So I make do and went for the Fully Sick Sandwich. I didn’t like the name, sounded rather negative. But taste was pretty delish.

The Hangar - Fully Sick Sandwich

The Fully Sick Sandwich has lots of greens, bland shredded chicken breast meat, greek yogurt and a pesto spread on the bread. The bread looked like if it was Sourdough but tasted like Rye. I like the pesto spread, that was really fabulous. The Greek Yogurt added a little sourish taste to the sandwich and that made the sandwich more appetizing. I never like Chicken Breast so I find it bland, almost to the extend tasteless.  I think it may be better if it was at least slightly marinated.

The Hangar - Cappuccino

The coffee was with medium to full body, more on the acidity end, pretty robust with some stone fruits, spice and caramel flavour notes.

I like the casual, hipster vibes. Service was warm and friendly. I like the fact that the iced water was served with ice cubes and a straw. And they even bought a bottle filled with water to my table for refill if necessary. But as the indoor is pretty open, the cigarette smoke from outside diffused into the indoor of the cafe, readily and easily. This happened when I was there. As I can’t tolerate cigarette smoke well so I don’t suppose I will return. Perhaps if I do, it will be a take away. It is a shame.
