De’Pop Culture Cafe @ North Bridge Road (Closed, Taken Over by Wilder)

*De’Pop Culture Cafe is now taken over by Wilder. Click here to read the review.

De’Pop Culture is nestled among the row of shophouses along North Bridge Road. North Bridge Road is a very long road. It stretches from Kampong Glam all the way, right before Singapore River so to be more precise, it is nearer the stretch of Sultan Mosque.

The cafe has a very interesting colour scheme. It has splashes of bright colours element, kind of neon like colours in many parts the cafe.I think they are trying to be playful with colours.

I dropped by the cafe on a Saturday afternoon. It was packed, almost all the tables were taken up but it wasn’t noisy. I browsed through the food menu and drinks & desserts menu with quite some good selection of mains. But it was after lunch so I am going for the desserts and a drink.

My Order, Waffle, Caramel & Cappuccino

I was indecisive between the carrot cake and the waffles but somehow the waffles won the war. I ordered the Buttermilk Waffles with granola, salted caramel ice cream and caramel. The waffles though has  golden brown coating but it is not crispy. The waffle texture is more bread-like with a good buttermilk, vanilla flavour. The texture is similiar to the Mr Bean’s pancake but lack of the slight chewiness. I find it pretty interesting and unique. Something different from the usual waffle in the market. For the ice cream, it has quite a strong caramel flavour. If you like it strong, this is just for you.

Lastly, the coffee. It was fine as well. It has a medium to low body, low acidity with a light aroma. It has some spice, butterscotch taste note.

De’Pop Culture Cafe is a quiet, unassuming cafe that serves pretty delish food. I will choose De’Pop Culture when I needed a quiet cafe to spend time.
