There is no lack of food at One Raffles Place. I have passed by JBM Coffee & Dining since the shop was under renovation. Finally the wait is over.
It has very much a casual dining environment with a bean roaster as the centre piece in the cafe. It’s a pity that the seats were placed closely to each other. Otherwise it would have been more comfy.
Apart from Ala Carte, they also offer set lunch from 11am to 2pm. Though the set lunch selection is very limited but value for money. I missed the offering as I was there after 2pm.
I couldn’t decide between the JBM Ling Duck and a salad. As I was feeling hungry so I chose the pasta instead. Moreover it was a chef specialty. The pasta was Al Dente. There were a few types of mushrooms and asparagus added into the dish together with sliced of pan fried smoked duck. The amount of ingredients added was a pretty generous amount. The sauce was creamy and was a little sour; tasted like some sort of vinegar. The dish was pleasant.
With the name of the shop having the word “coffee” and the roaster as the centre piece, I thought I should test out their coffee to see how they fare. The first sip of the coffee was filled with nutty flavour. I thought it was pretty excellent. But subsequent sip, I felt the coffee lack of a body, it was light and with with medium acidity. Towards the end, while the coffee cooled, the nutty flavour was replaced with a strong butterscotch flavour.
JBM Coffee & Dining is a good place for coffee. Food-wise above average. I will consider returning to try their salad.
