My friend and I were meeting at Orchard so I suggested to try Table @ Pip’s, a new restaurant in Orchard Central which has a causal dinning setting. It occupies quite a huge corner of basement two.
As usual, we have a starter for sharing. We decided to have Escargot. I was surprise to find that it was paired with mushroom. And it was surprisingly pleasant. There was a brown sauce that went very well with the dish except that it was a little salty
For main dish, my friend ordered the Ribeye Steaks as she was craving for steak while I want something light so I chose the Pacific Halibut Fillet.
My friend love the Ribeye Steak. She found it to be excellent. The steak was full of the beef natural flavour and it was tender.
While my Pacific Halibut Fillet, I find it too bland. Halibut isn’t a fish that has meat with very sweet note. It was very much very light in taste. Though there were some lychee to increase the sweetness but that didn’t help much.
The crew highly recommended us the Chocolate Durian Cake and since I like both Chocolate and Durian and in addition, I find the combination unique so I was game to try it. They must have used a high quality chocolate to make the cake. It was chocolaty with bitter sweet taste. As for the durian, I find that it didn’t go very well with chocolate. Moreover, chocolate was stronger in taste than durian so towards the end, I couldn’t even taste the durian but only the chocolate. I like the shredded orange as well. It was heavenly when it was eaten together with the chocolate.
Table @ Pip’s is a nice causal restaurant. The food is of high quality ingredients and the service crew and the chef are very friendly.
