I spotted Bridge Cafe while I walked passed Seah Street to Raffles Hotel the other day. The setting of the cafe was some hippy looking design and with a typical bicycle by the door step. The look gave me the confidence to try them and I was right.
Currently, they were having a soft launched menu with both Ala Carte and Set Lunch Menu. There were two set lunch menu on the offer, an Executive Lunch Set which consist of Starter, Main, Dessert and Drink while the Value has a Starter, Main and a drink. It seems like they have different menu for different time of the day.
I opted for the Value Lunch Set but regretted, should have try their desserts too as the food was too good to give the dessert a missed.
The Caesar Salad was exceptionally excellent. Instead of the normal hard-boiled egg found in the Caesar Salad, a soft boiled egg was topped on the salad. I like the runny yolk very much. When I started digging in, I was surprised to see the a piece of grapefruit (and of course the green apple slices that were by the side which was obvious). The grapefruit gave the salad a tangy feel which was great, it was very refreshing. Instead of usual grilled plain chicken, they added some tandoori chicken and this added more flavour to the salad. Another very important factor, the salad dressing. There was just enough of the Caesar Salad dressing coated on each leaf of the green. It would be prefect if dashes of pepper were added.
There were four choices of main and I chose Beef Cheek Stew. I was surprised to find the tender beef cheek chunk. With just a fork, I could cut the beef cheek, I don’t need the knife to assist. It was extremely tender. Even the tendon by the side of the meat melted. But if you are not a beef fan, you may find that the beef smell is a little too strong. It was a pity that the sauce was absorbed by the mashed potato before I could enjoy dipping my bread into the sauce.
I will certainly recommend to all and will certainly return to try more of their food, especially when they launch their full menu.
