The Klatch is perched a the second floor of unit 50A. It is neither unit facing the street but along this stretch, there is an entrance leading to more shop. Once you walked into this entrance, you can locate the cafe stairway on your left.
When I saw the unassuming entrance, it gave me an idea that The Klatch is a simple modest, unpretentious cafe.
True indeed. The cafe does not have much of a design per se. It was very much mixed and matched with different furniture.
It was a quiet cafe though in the heart of the bustling city, it has a serene ambience.
Food selection was pretty limited to fries, sandwiches & wraps, lasagne, shepherd’s pie and homemade cakes. They serve various drinks like coffee, tea, chocolate drinks and fruit juices.
I was keen on trying the Cream Cheese Apple Crumble but thought it would be too rich as I have a late lunch that day. So I settled for the Apple Crumble with a Cappuccino instead.
The coffee was decent. It has a rich nutty and chocolaty taste together with full body and low acidity.
As for the cake, I find it too sweet. The crumble was sweet, the base was sweet and so is the apple. There are lots of sugar crystals in the crumble too. My suggestion for improvement is to make the apple a little sourish and add some chopped nuts.
If you are looking for a quiet cafe with decent coffee that is in the city, it certainly fit the bill. I think they offer Wifi too.
