a Bite Cake is located at the ground floor of a HDB block of flat at Owen Road, specialising in customised cakes for all occasions.
They have some cakes for walk-in customers too. You can choose to have it in the cafe or take-away.
When I stepped foot at the cake shop, I first noticed the white walls, white furnitures, everything was white, just like the wedding dress.
There was an island table in the centre of cake shop with lovely ornaments and some cakes on displayed.
As it was near dinner time, I decided to takeaway, instead of have it there. It will be desserts after my mains at home. 😀
When I was there, they have mainly Mille Crêpe cake, something which I don’t fancy at all. So I was asking if they have sponge cake. Unfortunately, they hardly baked sponge cake unless you order it as a whole cake. They baked mainly rich cake, as rich as the chocolate fudge. As I like chocolate fudge cake, I got myself a piece to try. The service crew recommended their Salted Caramel tart and I got one too. I can’t resist at the words of “Salted Caramel”. I saw a lovely coloured whole Fruit Tart and was enticed by the took so bought one home to share too.
The tart were with biscuit based and it wasn’t too sweet or too buttery. The custard in the fruit tart has a good milky taste, together with the fruit, it was sweetish and sourish.
For the Chocolate Fudge Cake, it tasted like an oil based cake which was a little heavy. The texture is not as smooth and soft like the sponge. It was a little crumbly. There are chocolate chips added in the middle layer to give an extra crunch. The cake is very chocolaty, dark chocolate lovers will enjoy the cake.
Lastly, the Salted Caramel Tart. The combination of caramel and nuts reminded me of the Snickers Bar. The difference was it has a salt tinge in the caramel. The nuts help to neutralise the sweetness so it doesn’t taste that sweet.
Overall, pretty good cakes and tarts.
