Flee Away Cafe At Little India, Retrolicious With A Modern Twist (Closed)

Flee Away Cafe is located within Little India. The exact location is in a shop house along Dunlop Street. It started in April 2014.

Flee Away - Cafe Front

This addition is refreshing to Little India.

Flee Away – From the Entrance

The furnitures were mixed and matched with some retro, some old-school and some modern elements.

Flee Away - At a Side of the Cafe

It is a fun and cute little cafe and very cosy. I have great fun taking photos of the cafe.

Flee Away – Order Counter

In the cafe, there are lots of retro ornaments cleverly displayed at every part of the cafe. You can find them on the tables,

Now what about the food? The menu selection is pretty small but lots of innovative dishes, the theme of the cafe is also brought into the menu, very much traditions with a modern twist.

Flee Away - Food Menu

Two of the highlights were the Le Char Kuey which is You Char Kuey (a Chinese fried dough) with different savoury fillings and the Hash Beef Pie Tee.

Flee Away - Drinks Menu

When I saw the Le Char Kuey on the menu, I recalled how my Grandpa liked to enjoy the You Char Kuey. He would fill the You Char Kuey with the Chinese Peanut Candy. My brother likes it this way too.

Flee Away - Discount for Tertiary Students

Flee Away has a lunch promotion for the Le Char Kuey and it came with a cup of coffee. They are also offering Tertiary Students a 10% discount. What a nice gesture. Maybe they could extend it to all students.

Flee Away – Lunch Promotion

Since the lunch promotion was such a good bargain, I shall not miss it. I ordered the Le Char Kuey with Curry Chicken as filling and instead of coffee I requested for Cappuccino and I topped 50 cents more. The Le Char Kuey is like eating an Oriental sandwich. Instead of having it with bread, have it with You Char Kuey. The Curry Chicken is very little spice so it will appeal to the mass. It has a side salad without dressing.

Flee Away – My Order, Le Char Kuey with Curry Chicken

The cappuccino is on the acidity end has a medium body and aroma and with a spice note.

The Le Char Kuey has a handful of mini Papadum too. It was so apt since it was in the Little India area.

Overall, a nice, cosy, refreshing cafe, retrolicious with a modern twist cafe serving fusion food, traditions with a twist. Flee away is very innovative in their menu. In addition, great service with warm hospitality. The service crew was very concern of their quality of food when they see that I didn’t finish it.  I am looking forward to more innovative filling for the Le Char Kuey from Flee Away.
