Royal Pavilion is a Chinese Restaurant at ground floor of Park Regis, behind Ministry of Manpower
I have Dim Sum lunch with my Dad and Aunt at Royal Pavilion today. We love Dim Sum.
There was a dish of preserved tomatoes on the table. It was sweetish but there was an addtional taste which I didn’t quite like but my Dad enjoyed it.
The Dim Sum was above average. We love the Prawn wrapped in the beancurd skin and the spring roll.
These two dim sum was very delish.
The Har Gao was not too bad. I find it a little fish due to the fish roe. I am very sensitive fishy taste.
We have a chicken feet too. It was tasty, the marinates was absorbed into the chicken feet skin and it was flavourful but we would prefer the texture to be softer.
Other than Dim Sum, we ordered the stir fried Kai Lan and a Hor Fun. Both are my Dad’s favourite. The Kai Lan was crunchy, not over cooked and with the fried shredded ginger added, giving off the ginger flavour enhanced the greens. It was great. As for the Hor Fun, nothing special, pretty normal. I felt that there is room for improvement.
I always need dessert after eating savoury food to have a sense of satisfaction. We ordered a yam paste and a fried durian ice cream. The fried ice cream was fine. The yam paste was delicious but not great. My Dad commented that the dish was not warm enough. Some of the paste was cool and the paste was not fine and smooth enough. I agreed with his comment. In addition, I prefer the yam paste without the coconut milk. Personally, I don’t find the coconut milk great with the dish.
Overall, though there are room for improvement for some dishes, we still enjoyed our lunch.
