Silky Cake Spade At Orchid Hotel – Tanjong Pagar, Singapore (Shifted)

Finally, I got to taste the very talked about Cake Spade’s Strawberry Tofu Cake as my sister has bought me two pieces of their cakes after I mentioned to her about the positive blog reviews written by the various bloggers. Feeling so blessed. Strangely, somehow, I never get the chance to entered Cake Spade though I frequent Tanjong Pagar.

Cake Spade - Cake Box

Look at the cake box from cake spade, it has a character.

Cake Spade - Red Velvet

Let’s start with the Red Velvet. The cake’s layers are soft and light and chocolaty. Among the Red Velvet I tried so far, this has the strongest chocolate taste. Though on Cake Spade website, they mentioned that the Red Velvet is with cream cheese frosting but it tasted more like butter cream. I think the portion of cheese added was relatively lesser than their competitors.

Cake Spade - Strawberry Tofu Cheesecake Cake

Silky is the word to described the texture of the cheesecake, as silky and smooth as tofu. No wonder it got its name as tofu cheesecake. There isn’t any cheesecake taste so for those who do not like the taste of cheese would not mind a piece of this cake. After the first bite, it reminded me of the non-baked cheesecake I used to make. When I added a little too much of gelatin, it turned a little like this cake. So if I am correct, they might have added more jelly or gelatin to attain this texture. If you are a cheesecake lover, when trying this cake, you need to try it with an open mind. My sister felt that it was very disappointing as there isn’t any cheese flavour in it and it tasted like jelly and I shared the same review.

What I like about Cake Spade’s cake is the subtle sweetness of their cake. Its cake its like its box, got its unique character. Cake Spade has tried to differentiate themselves from others with some twist in their cakes. Whatever you like it or not, I guess it would be very much individual preference. I suggestion is that try it with an open mind.

Cake Spade - Menu

Some of the bakes were red velvet, spiced carrot cake, some tarts, brownies and crumble bars and they have cupcakes too.
