My Family Favourite Breakfast Item at Chinatown Complex Market, Chee Cheong Fun

Chee Cheong Fun or known as rice roll is one of my favourite breakfast item. I would definitely have this when I am at the Chinatown Food Center.

Usually, the stall will not be making their own but will source from a factory that make the roll. This stall I patronize, likewise, got their from a factory. The rice roll itself is plain and very much tasteless but you may taste a little rice fragrance in the roll provided they use high quality rice flour. It is the sauces that they added to rice roll that cause the flavour of the dish. And not forgetting the little sesame seed, which will enhance the flavour as well.

A good rice roll must be smooth to the mouth; soft and tender to the bite. The sauces play an important role to the dish.  Oil, soy sauce, sweet sauce are added and if you want it spicy, chilli sauce is also added. Finally with a dash of sesame seeds will make the dish perfect.

My favourite chee cheong fun stall is located at Chinatown Food Center. It does not have a English name on the sign board. It sells only two items, chee cheong fun and yam cake. It is always with a long queue. The plump lady owner is also grouchy. As for the yam cake, I have never tried it. Maybe I should try it the next time.
