Kapfenberg, Austria, A Quiet Town

Kapfenberg is a small, quiet, self-contained town, southwest of Vennia in Austria. It takes about 5-6 hours to drive from Vienna.

The main attraction is Oberg Kapfenberg. It is a castle, built in 1262. Initially, it was used as resdiential. Eventually, it was used as a fotress. In this attraction, there is also a restaurant. The food is quite good. The exhibition in the castle is open to visitors from 1 April to 31 October. It is open from Tuesdays to Sunday, closed on Monday, unless it is a public holiday. The opening time is 10 am with last admission at 5 pm.

Kapfenberg has a small town centre, where you can find post centre, supermarket, stores, a small shopping mall and some restaurants and cafe, very self-sufficient.

There is also a small parish church.

I dined at a restaurant up in the Alps. Good scenery and good food.

As for hotel, I stayed in Hotel Böhlerstern Kapfenberg, a 4-star hotel. A very homely hotel.

There isn’t much attraction in this town as it is extremely small. It is a good place to get away if you wanted to avoid the metropolitan.
