Kiku is a Japanese Restaurant located at the very happening Duxton area. There are lots of different restaurants and cafe. You can even find a Russian restaurant in the area.
As I entered the restaurant, I see lots of modern Japanese ornaments and display of the Japanese Sake.
I was shown to the seat at level one with mainly the counter seats and I am fine. There are more seats at level two.
Once I am seated, I was served with a cup of warm green tea and presented the menu. Service was very prompt. By the way, the green tea was complimentary.
Kiku serves set lunch between 12 pm and 3 pm. The selection is of a variety. I love their variety. I can find a number of mains in the set lunch menu that I like. There are Sashimi, Don or if you prefer cooked food, there are some grills, tempura, curry and more.
While I was waiting for my food, I could enjoy the view of the Chef passionately at work, slicing the sashimi.
Meanwhile, I also looked around the restaurant and appreciated the ornaments at display in the restaurant.
Very soon, I was served with my order. I ordered the Osashimi Set. Though on the menu, it stated three kinds of sashimi but I think I was served four kinds as there was a prawn as well. The staff was very attentive, they highlighted to me the soy sauce.
I was pretty careless, I spilled the sauce. The staff immediately notice it and came forward to clean up the mess. The service of the restaurant was excellent.
The serving is relatively small but was good for me as I could finish the entire portion without wasting any food. If you need more carbohydrate to fill your stomach, I would suggest you order other than the Osashimi set.
I ended my meal with a sweet note by having a matcha ice cream. The green tea flavour was not too strong and there was only a sweetish taste. I like the ice cream.
In a nutshell, service was excellent, ambience of restaurant was serene, lunch was great and I enjoyed the lunch, will sure be back again. It would be great if a dessert was included in the lunch set.
