Afternoon Tea Like the Brit in London, The Capital Hotel

When I was planning for my London trip last year, I was thinking to myself, how can I not have afternoon tea when I am in London.

My first choice was to spend an afternoon with my aunt (and may be my cousin, if he is coming along), at The Savoy. It was ashamed that the date and time that I wanted was fully booked. I could only be on the waiting list. So, I settled for my second choice that is at The Capital. As always, I will make my reservation for the afternoon Tea at The Capital prior the trip.

We were a little late for the afternoon tea and at the same time, I was a little worried that they may not have seats for three as I made reservation for two. Luckily, they did have an additional seat for my cousin.

The service crew were diplomatic and helpful, nevertheless, we waited quite a while for the waiter to show us to the table. The afternoon tea was in a lovely room, which has only five tables, each for a maximum of four guests. The theme of the room was very English. I am always very concern with the chair. It was very cozy and comfortable. I did not get backache or get restless at the end of the 2 hours.

We ordered three sets of the same. There were sandwiches, pastries, scones. Scones were served with jams and clotted cream. There were wide selection of tea. I am a Earl Grey Tea lover, so I need not to go through the long tea menu before I decide what to have. My aunt and cousin took some time to decide though.

High Tea Set

In general, the food were decent and the ambience was good. I would certainly want to try other afternoon tea for comparison purpose.
