The Dispensary is in Tiong Bahru, the first neighbourhood with vibrant cafe culture. There are Tiong Bahru Bakery, 40 Hands, just to name two of my favourites in Tiong Bahru. The cafe is facing the main road but there isn’t a signboard so you have to look carefully so that you won’t missed the cafe.
They have creatively retained and incorporated the old chinese medical hall drawers and signboard in the cafe that fit the name of the cafe.
The theme is very much retro cum modern.
Modern furnitures with retro ornaments
There are more seats on the second floor.
For those who like al fresco seats, unfortunately there isn’t any.
I wanted to order the cupcakes but it was not available, pretty disappointing. Only the carrot cake and red velvet cake were available.
If was very fortunate that the carrot cake was excellent, moist with enough of spice (both cinnamom and nutmeg), carrot and chopped walnut and the sweetness level is just nice as well. The near perfect carrot cake would be perfect if the cream cheese could be equally spread. The cappuccino is decent.
One other bonus, free WiFi is available to guests. My only feedback is that if they could have more selection in the menu, that would be even better.
