The only eatery that I tried in Upper Thomson Road was Salted Caramel. This afternoon as I was on leave (clearing my brought forward leave from last year), I thought of exploring Upper Thomson area.
As I was walking along Sin Ming Road, I saw a “November 8” signboard on a pillar of a building and I decided to check it out. In the same building, there is an Oz Speciality Coffee, which I shall check it out next time.
The November 8 Cafe can’t be seen from the outside. You got to walk into the building through the dark walkway.
The cafe occupied a pretty big shop floor and it has a pretty spacious layout of its furniture. The tables and chairs are mainly wood. They tried to use colours on the chairs and pipes on the ceiling to brighten the space.
At a corner, the decor is pretty cute, its like the old gramdma’s houses of the 70s with the old fashion cane furnitures.
And not forgetting the lovely colourful origami tulips that are on the tables.
The cafe was seventy per cent filled at one plus in the afternoon.
There was in-house music played in the cafe, I find it a bit loud. The music is like mild rocks.
The staff cum owners were warm and friendly. Their service was prompt. Once I was seated, water was served.
November 8 has a pretty wide range of food on the menu. I could not decide between my two favourite food, the waffle and Egg Benedict.
Finally I decided on the Waffles with Ice Cream and Cappuccino. The waffle has a very nice coat of golden yellow colour. The waffle is soft and moist to the extend of I think it was too wet. It should be cooked for a little while longer. The waffle tasted nostalgic. It is not the buttery kind. It was served without my favourite maple syrup, I was a little disappointed but they provided me with some after I make the request.
First sip of the coffee tasted sweet and a little fruity. It has a medium body and low aroma, no after taste. The coffee has a pretty latte art.
My thought about the cafe … The best part was November 8 Coffee and Company provided free WiFi and some power points and coffee was all right. I believe the hispsters would enjoy the cafe. As for the food, there are rooms for improvement. The other aspect that I like is the service. It was prompt and warm. But somehow the cafe is pretty dim.
