The roads of London are now here in Singapore. There are Bloomsbury and Drury Lane. Today, as I was going for a medical appointment at 3pm, I decided to have late lunch and then go straight to the clinc after lunch. And so I travelled down to Drury Lane for lunch.
I ordered a Smoked Salmon and Mushroom Sandwich and a Cappuccino. I didn’t want mushroom on my sandwich so I asked for rockets but they only have spinach. I make do. I was later informed by the staff that the spinach would be raw and I went err … The chef heard and offered to sauteed the spinach for me. I was given a number cup for the order to be served.
My special order of sandwich, turned out pretty well.
The smoked salmon did not taste fishy and that was good. I find the cream cheese spread too little on the bread as it did not cover the entire slice of bread. This was for the slice topped with smoked salmon. The other slice topped with spinach does not have any spread on. Maybe some butter would be good.
My first sip of the coffee, I tasted a chocolate taste. The body was medium. It has a good aroma though.
They have quite a wide range of food; from brunch item to sandwiches to cakes and pastry to desserts.
The cafe was pretty crowded on a Monday. Almost all tables in the ground level was occupied and there were guests walking up and down of the stairs throughout my time spent at Drury Lane. I choose to sit at the ground floor as I was lazy to climb the stairs to the second floor.
The design of the cafe was of modern. The tables and chairs were similar to a bar, high tables and high chairs, true for the ground floor, unknown for the second floor. The chair is not comfortable for petite lady like me.
Drury Lane has an open kitchen. I don’t think is a good idea, they are exposing some ugly part to customers. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean unhygienic, just some part of the kitchen due to wear and tear so has become not so pleasant to the eyes.
In summary, I was not impressed with the food served. But I love their service. They are willing to customised customers order to their preference. Keep it up.
